Going on holiday, wondering what you need? Well you have come to the right place.
On this page I will provide a comprehensive list of travel essentials you can use when travelling. We personally use a lot of these items and they are all linked to Amazon, so enjoy looking (and buying). For most items I have attached links to Amazon.co.uk but if your buying from elsewhere it should ask if you want to change to the local Amazon store meaning you pay in your local currency. Alternatively, i will also share the Irish Amazon links also being our home location. In some cases the offers were better on the Euros / Irish Amazon store
Please, if you decide any of these items can be of use, click the link and buy. It won't cost you any more but we'll make a small commission to keep our website active and it would be much appreciated.
Firstly you need to think of home security. A simple internal window video camera with SD card can detract any would be thief as they will be caught on video on your own phone wherever you are staying.
If there's anything you think we've missed, please comment and let us know.
1. Luggage & Packing Systems
Primary Luggage
Lightweight expandable suitcases
As a family we use these hard shell and extendable suitcases. The deal on the above link is fantastic as you get 5 bags in total, a medium, large and extra large case, more than enough for any holiday. Not only that you also receive a matching duffel bag and toiletry bag, perfect to complete the set. All of this for a great one off price!
To buy use the above link, or to buy in Ireland press here.
Smart suitcase (USB port, GPS tracking)
When travelling myself for work, I love using my smart suitcase. Its made by Wrangler and has a cup holder and USB port along with a seperate bag for all of my electronics, ensuring my phones charged and i'm charged with my coffee. Buy anywhere using the link above or in Ireland here.
When younger my kids loved roll along suitcases they could sit on and it made life so much easier in the airport, saving tired legs and whiny kids. There are so many options to choose from, but here are some ideas on the Your local site or the Irish site.
Specialty Bags
I've owned a few of these over the years, but this one by Lossga is definitely the best I have ever owned. It has a discrete zip on the back for document security, double handles for easy carrying through security, various sections for plenty of storage and a strap for connecting it to your suitcase handle for easy carrying. Have a look and buy locally or in Ireland, whichever suits! Did I mention this suits as a cabin underseat bag!
Luggage Accessories
Not much can be said about the following, they are must haves but there are so many options to choose from. I have highlighted the items we personally use so happy looking -
At the time of creating this list, these straps had a 5% voucher discount attached and come in a pack of 4. Thanks me later .....
Luggage covers (waterproof/dustproof)
This is the one I use and I love it 'Dont touch me'!! Yes keep your hands off on the carousel.
Luggage tags (smart / AirTag compatible)
No need to pay mad money for Apples own, there are plenty of options at very cheap prices including the one I have linked.
2. Packing & Space-Saving Gear
Compression & Organization
Overall there are loads of packing options to save space when packing including Packing cubes, Compression packing cubes, Vacuum storage bags and Electronics organiser pouches. Amazon have great deals no matter where you buy, so if you are looking to buy in Ireland have a look here for some ideas and if in if you are in the UK or anywhere else, follow this link. Personally at the time of creating this list, the Euro site had much better deals.
Clothing Management
When travelling there are times you may not be able to bring loads of clothes so may need ways to clean, dry and store your clothes. One time this came into practice was when we went on a cruise and luggage was restricted due to space in the cabin. To assist we packed the following;
Magnetic Travel Clothesline - ideal for cruising and the metal walls
Foldable hangers - a must have for small storage areas
Wrinkle-release spray - love the Lenor
Portable garment steamer - Unfortunately the cruiselines wont allow these but still handy whilst on holiday
With the above I linked the Euro pages as in all cases at time of writing they were the best value, but if you want to check out Amazon.co.uk, follow this link and search the items required.
